Hi There,

I was recently placed onto insulin having been on Metformin and Gliclazide. Since I've been placed in control of my own sugar levels I've noticed I'm getting up in the middle of the night to pee? - Has anyone else had this problem? Seems to be around 3am every time?

My sugars seem very erratic at the moment, today I've been as low as 4.8 and as high as 18!? - Still getting used to dosages and eating regime as to what's sending me high and low.

Any advice at all would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Do yountest your blood sugar when you get up to pee? That would be useful to see if it's blood sugar related.

Many diabetics get up to pee every 4-6 hours. It is just our systems resting themselves.

Hi Guys - No I don't test my sugars during the night - I'm coming down from a long period of being high and having poor control due to denial and other psychological things going on.... Maybe it would be a good idea... Have the Gluco Tablets at the side of the bed just incase I go hypo; but touch wood, this hasn't been an experience 'yet' lol

When on insulin its always a good idea to test during the night if you wake, if anything it gives you some piece of mind so you can fall back to sleep again if your bg levels are in range, but definitely keep some fast-acting glucose by your bed at all times in the event that you do have a hypo, liquid glucose like GlucoJuice works extremely fast.

To help prevent the night peeing don't drink anything in the later hours of the evening, especially caffeinated drinks. Best wishes.
