Hi. Sounds like you are probably a LADA but, whatever, think of yourself as T1. As others have said be aware that the liver stops releasing emergency glycogen when it's busy removing alcohol so your body can go hypo more easily and not manage it well assuming you even realise you are hypo and not drunk. So, go easy on it and yes, don't take too much insulin without monitoring your sugars. I still have alcohol although a bit too old to party any more! Have a good time and possibly warn your friends and have glucose available.
 
I read somewhere red wine was a good tipple but I'm now tee total as it scares me!!

Hi I found that if you drink vodka and diet coke it does not alter your normal bg but always take some glucose tablets out with you. The beer tends to make your sugar go up but can drop quickly.
