No change in blood results

Hi,
I had a blood test 3 months ago and was told by my dr that my blood sugars were too high. He advised weight loss and diet change.
So I totally changed my lifestyle, cut out carbs, beer and started cycling 5 miles to work. In those 3 months I’ve lost over 2 stone in weight in readiness for a second blood test.
Now I’ve just had a call saying there is no change in my blood results! I’m having a phone call from my gp next week to discuss the next steps.
Is there anything else I can do to help reduce it?

The first one was 54

Did they confirm the second was 54 as well (I'm guessing at mmol/m)
Doctors can be pretty rubbish at this kind of thing.
I'm also guessing you aren't self testing your blood sugar levels at home?
Might be an idea to start doing that so you can see the impact of different foods on your levels which could be quite enlightening.

Can I say that kind of sounds like they were checking the wrong results? Something's happening, with you losing weight and cutting carbs, so still being at 54 would be next to impossible, or your diet'd still be the same and your weight would be too. What's you meter telling you?
