No insuin

Hi, Triscornia, I see from your other posts that your son has recently been dx'd T1, so it might be that you will be grabbing at any slim chance at the moment.

That's quite normal in the early days after dx, but please don't be gulled by this thread.

I would love it if there has been some major developments along the lines suggested by panda poo, but, colour me sceptical, the thread has all the hallmarks of a bored teenager just deciding to do a tiresome troll wind-up.

Yes your right I want to believe there is a cure but I also believe in my heart my son does not have diabetes but something else but as it’s all very new to us we are learning everyday. He was on antibiotics and didn’t need insulin now they say he is back to honeymoon period and only needs it sometimes. I thought once you started insulin you can’t stop. Maybe just clutching at straws.
Thanks for responding. Sad that people would write a joke about something so serious.

No probs, @Triscornia .

I can understsnd your anguish, I felt distraught when I was dx'd.

But, believe me, as time goes by it really isn't scary at all.

I'd done a lot of sports before dx, sailing, cycling, skiing, and mistakenly thought that was the end of that, that I'd be sitting on the sidelines.

Nope, after a few weeks getting over the dka, I was back on the bike etc and did just fine. Been away backpacking for months on end and have held down a professional career.

There's no major limitations, I just need to make sure I carry sweets with me

He'll be fine.

And then those who believe, or have been told, anyone on insulin is type 1. Hence similar stories of people progressing from type 2 to type 1 as opposed to an initial misdiagnosis. So another point in favour of a possible type 2 in reality.

I’m still a bit confused though. Hospitalised with flu in January.
Readings of 11.4 and hypo symptoms. (On or off the insulin at that time?). Presumably false hypo at that level!
What were readings before hospital and whilst using insulin?
What have readings been like since you came off insulin in January?
Do you have other diabetic medication?

Hi every body i put this post on to try and help but i seem to be getting slagged of what i have told you is true and not a lie like some are saying so you will not be hearing from me again and keep strong regards Pandapoo.

Thanks. Your so nice to respond and be positive. I guess once my sons level has stabilized it will be easier to handle and accept.
Have a lovely weekend.

In light of the OP's comment not to fully clarify events leading to reversed diagnosis.
