Dear all, I've taken my time having a good look round this forum and learnt so much already. There's great support here and right now I need to tap into some of the knowledge.
I had GD in 2003 and 2012, each time I was insulin dependant. I managed the GD perfectly as I was so well monitored by the diabetic midwife and as I had the welfare of my babies to motivate me, my diet was flawless.
Fast forward to 2014 and I was diagnosed T2. I lack motivation and suffer from high BP mainly because of my weight.
Any ways, I was on metformin 500 X 3, however in January my bloods were terrible so the gp doubled this.
I'm now testing my BG every morning and at various times during the day. I've seen what works and what doesn't and in fairness I had a good enough idea after the GD. All readings are within range except the fasting BG.
BUT I can't get my morning reading down to less than 8. It's 8.something every morning.
So my question is 'am I testing the morning one wrong'?
I get up around 8am and sort the kids out and it could be any time between 9 and 10.30 before I take my fasting BG.
I've heard you all talk about liver dumping and some people seem to be testing in the early hours. I don't understand this part. Is it important to test as soon as your eyes open, as opposed to showering and getting kids out. I assumed i just needed to have been fasting??
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Alison
