it's not solely related to rabbits, it's that they re emblematic of very lean protein.
It's also known as caribou starvation.
Why did we need this contribution (not yours) to the thread ? "Odd fact. Doesn't 'work' if you eat exclusively rabbit meat though."
Seems too diversionary

I love rabbit but it is very low fat. I used to breed/rear my own meat chickens, ducks and geese and used to do swapsies for rabbit and venison - much as I enjoyed rabbit it isn't a very satisfying meat.

I really can't imagine a diet void of fruit and veggies, how miserable meal-times would be.

Strangely, meat- only eaters report the opposite. It may be one of those strange paradoxes. People who've reduced carbs can often report not fancying various carby manifestations they used to adore.

You may be right, but a plate of food void of veggies doesn't appeal to me Geoff, but each to their own.

Many, myself included, didn't change to a lowcarb diet because it appealed to us. We did it for our health. The discovery that lowcarb could be immensely enjoyable came later.
Anyone who restricts themselves to things that appeal is limiting their life experiences. Don't get me wrong. I love veggies, but can see that I could possibly grow not to miss them.

You can eat veggies on a low-carb diet Geoff, many members here do and they are careful to choose those that are lower in carbs.

Quite nice pan fried in lots of butter.. avoids the low fat problem too.

Myself included. I thought you were alluding to my statement earlier in the thread where I said I could envisage going meat-only. That won't happen tomorrow.

,
No No I would have quoted you, just saying I couldn't imagine a diet void of fruit & veg, love both in equal measures.

I like meat but do occasionally have a meat-free day, but tbh I couldn't give it up altogether, having a barbie this Saturday night :)

I used to like it cooked in a slow cooker or simmered long and low on the hob with reduced dry perry (pear cider), onions, garlic, parsnips and pears, finished with some double cream to thicken it. Yum. Not at all low carb.

The trouble is that you can't buy it in butchers in this area. The only reason I used to eat a lot of it was that I got bored of all the home raised chicken / turkey / duck / goose.
