When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
I now know, thanks to this wonderful forum, that even though I'm not having a fasting blood test that I'm better not to eat in the morning. But what do I do to stop the dreaded liver dump? What is the latest time I can eat in the evening, a normal fasting test I'm told not to eat after 10pm. What would you suggest. Tonight I had 4 prawns with some mayonnaise and a tiny amount of tomato puree.

If you have a non fasting blood test at the doctors or hospital it will be a long range test so you do not have to worry about eating in the morning as it will make no difference to the long range test.

I met up with a sewing pen friend today who was visiting the island with her husband on a cruise ship. Now I've been very good eating only Lchf. Then after I'd taken them on a tourist guide I took them to a cafe with wonderful cakes and I had a slice of St Lucia banana cake, which was topped with bits of fresh raspberry, red currants, strawberry bits and kiwi bits....Well it was part of my 5 a day. After I saw them back to their ship I went for a walk. After a late tea and another walk I was 4.5

@berylc The only time I have to fast is when I have the full range of blood tests, is for the statin (Crestor) I take.

I have to stop that days Digoxin tablets as well.

If your tests include cholesterol and triglycerides then it is wise to fast. Food will affect the triglyceride levels, particularly fatty food. Perhaps you could ring to ask if you are having cholesterol and lipids tested. Any liver dump you experience won't affect your results. The HbA1c does not require fasting and will not be affected by food or liver dump.

When I have my annual blood tests done I'm never asked to fast, I never have been all the time I've been diabetic.

NICE also recommend a 12 hour meat fast before creatinine test. Obviously includes other non-animal proteins.

Usually when I have to fast for a test, my GP should write down fasting or yes if there is a question asking if fasting is required. I try and go early in the morning if I have to have a fasting test.
As a matter of interest, what is liver dump?
