Not Getting Enough Calories

Eating multiple small meals is going to be helpful in maintaining or gaining weight - it is the best way to feed up anything.
I remember how my poor goldfish were ravenous after I'd been away - they'd had the same amount of food as normal - but all at once, rather than in small amounts. I used to fill up those cases camera film came in and give them one a day, a teaspoon at a time. It took several days for them to calm down and become contented again.

Not sure multiple small meals benefits those of us with T2 diabetes at all. All it does is to keep the pancreas working hard all day secreting insulin, and probably worsening insulin resistance. Same with snacking between meals. Much better to stick to 3, 2 or 1 meal a day.

Thank you all for your wise advice. I never even considered the "giving the pancreas a rest" angle with relation to eating more than 3x per day.
I do need to lose weight, so eating fewer calories is a good thing. However, I know that if you don't eat enough, your body thinks it's starving itself. When I consume 900 cal, I am obviously not consuming 90g of carbs! That would be insane. lol
My daily goal is 1200 cal, 90g carbs.
I'm not going to dither about the cramming in of calories, and eating just for the sake of eating.

Eating when you are hungry and not at any other time is a good way to go. Eating multiple small meals is not a good way. Intermittent fasting is also a good way to go - that is eating within a specific window of time, and nothing outside this time. If you skip breakfast, for example, you extend your overnight fast by several hours. Then eat lunch at say 1pm and tea at say 7pm - so you are eating within a 6 hour window and fasting for 18 hours. Drinking doesn't count, and nor does a morning coffee with double cream, or cups of tea, but no solid food. This really helps improve insulin resistance and produces lower glucose levels.

Hi @kre8tiv1

Can I suggest that you fill in your prolfile? Particularly the type of diabetes and the medication fields.
Simply go to your profile by clicking your name, top right of screen, choose the Personal Details option, and enter the information. Then save.

It would help members to understand your situation and give you appropriate responses.

Oh thank you! I will do that right now.
