Novarapid timing

I always inject after the meal. Mainly because my eyes are usually too big for my stomach and I could inject for 30g of carbohydrate let's say and then not finish my entire meal. That way I'm not injecting too much, I'm injecting accurately for what I end up eating within the meal.

Before I got a pump, I always injected the bolus insulin directly after eating a meal as doing this always meant that I got the carb calculation correct. On MDI I have used both Apidra and Humalog and they were all ok for doing this even if food was highish in carb, although people might find that they need a slightly different carb ratio than they would if they injected the bolus 15mins before they ate. The only insulin that I think struggles with dealing with carb is Novorapid so ideally that should be injected about 15mins before eating but is this doable? Well for people who dont mind cooking food, calculating the carb and then waiting 15mins before they eat it, yes, but hardly ideal especially if living with a partner or have a family....
