Try taking it to your pharmacy. They're usually pretty good at disposing of unwanted prescriptions.

Which pump? The Medtronic or the accu-chek insight?

To be honest most pumps are much of a muchness, both the insight and the 640g are excellent pumps. I spent four years on the accu chek combo which is the model below the insight, it was a great pump but I fancied trying something different.

I chose the 640g over the insight due to the larger cartridge size, CGM compatibility, the care link software and a few other things. I'd ask your DSN what pumps are available and choose the one that has the most features you'll benefit from.

You'll get out of pumping what you put into it, it still requires a lot of work but for me the benefits (just) outweigh the negatives. I was taking around 8 injections a day including corrections whilst I was injecting, I was also struggling with Lantus and exercise lows etc. The pump felt like a revelation when I first started.

Everybody starting on insulin pump should give this book a read in my opinion.

Keep the pen or dispose of in household waste bin, just be sure to remove the needle first.
