Novo pen echo

If your in the UK then the NovoPen Echo is available on prescription.
 
Hi. When I went onto my 2nd (Bolus) pen my nurse only offered me the Echo as she said the previous Penfill 4 had been discontinued. It's for adults and children
 
Not sure if it is different in Scotland what pens they give you. When I was on a training course in Northampton one of the people on the course was type 1 and he used different pens from me so might be what they use up hear I will ask as I said when I go and see the doctor ..

I've had this pen for just over a couple of months after using a Novopen Demi which gives half doses, as does the Echo. What I didn't know and also the diabetes nurse didn't realise, is that it uses Novotwist needles which are different needles to the Novopen . They only need half a twist to screw them on and the inner cap, which I put back on the needle after use, (even though they advise you not to), is much easier to get back on. The Novopen needles also fit a pen for my Lantus so I still need to get them as well as the ones for the Echo. The Echo looks just like my other pen except that at the end of the cap there is a window which shows when your last injection was and how much insulin you gave which is quite useful if you're forgetful. As I only need very tiny amounts of insulin, usually 3 units per meal, I find the half dose really useful and have been quite happy with the new pen.

I'm in Scotland. I started on the novopen echo for bolus originally and then my nurse recommended them for my basal too :)

I use microfine needles for both my novopen 5 and novopen echo?

You can use either Novofine or Novotwist with Novopens.

It's actually the cartridge that has the thread adaptor, not the pen, so you can't use non-Novo insulins in Novopens.

Why wait, just ask your gp surgery to add it to your next prescription, if you order on-line you can do it yourself.
 
I use BD needles with my Novopen Echo, which I got on prescription for my Levemir.
