NOVOPEN ECHO PLUS - "END".

Hi there,

Does anyone know whether, when these insulin pens show END on their caps which apparently indicates the pen will no longer be able to indicate how much I last injected because the battery has run out, - whether this affects the selected amount of insulin so it doesn not work properly? Does this make any difference to the amount of insulin issued - if I select 5, will it still issue 5 units?

I know that I have to ask my GP for a prescription for a new pen (apparently the batteries cannot be changed), but does the battery failure result in the wrong amount of insulin coming out??

The pen will work perfectly fine, the battery is only for the memory display part.

You aren't supposed to be able to change the battery, but it is possible, if tricky. The battery is a CR1220, you'll need a thin, sharp knife, YouTube, and a good pair of glasses - I'd advise against, but have done it successfully.

Just press down the dial dose top. Or pull out & press down to activate the LCD screen.

Wow that's so cool! I didn't even notice it had it when I got my pen because they gave it without the packaging of course, since I got it straight from the hospital. That makes everything sooooooooooo much easier, thanks!

You should be able to find the user guide online for the pen?

Make sure they issue you spare pens too..
These are pretty robust compared to the early novopens,
But I have lost a couple in the past. (Slipped out my pocket.)
Found it again in my van.

And one time I just happened to spot my Novopen on a security desk at work. Someone had handed it in.
