I wonder if someone can advise. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and today is the first time I have attempted to use the second NovoPen I have been gven. Problem: the insulin is not coming out of the needle..... I am certain that I have put the cartridge in proerly and it is a new cartridge. Can someone help please. Does it take a number of attempts to get the insulin flowing? Thanks

yes, I usually in the second time the insulin comes out.

but look at the rubber thing in the pen, if it looks like swallowing thing, u have to press hard or change to a new pen.

The first time, put on the needle and press away a few units until fluid comes out. There normally is some "slack" in the mechanism you need to get rid off. Other then that you have to press the needle on straight. If you flip it on you can bent the inner part of the needle so it does not penetrate the seal of the pen.

Rarely you can get a needle that is jammed

Sometimes happens to me and I just screw on another needle tip.

It can be like trying to shoot the dose without the needle..
Basically the plastic screw collar isn’t holding the needle tight enough? You may even notice the needle looks a little longer than usual??
A mass production fault somewhere?? Try another needle & an air shot..

I know, have done it for my parents the last 20 odd years, but writing simple things in a foreign language can be surprisingly difficult . But I had it happen that when not lining up the needle and cartridge straight on but tilting them on that the inner part of the needle slides of the membrane and bends sideways. Hope it's clear what I meant to say.

Oddly, there were videos on YouTube in foreign language regarding “how to” with pens?

The same principle, (integrating with the cartridges.) but I’ve been using them (transferring from classic hypodermics.) since the 1980s?
It’s only recently I noticed the screw on needles can be (shall we say.) below standard..
