Novorapid and carbs

Hi all I was after some advice
Is my fitness pal and accurate way to check the carbs in my foods?
I will be starting novorapid tomorrow and was wondering which app could help me easily count the amount of carbs I’m having.
I am really struggling to manage my type 2 diabetes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I’m not on insulin but I do use Myfitnesspal to count my carbs as do keto, it’s a good resource but it’s peer driven so I sometimes find that the carbs aren’t correct. I don’t know how useful it would be to count for insulin. I’ve seen mentioned that some of our members use the carbs & Cals app.

I’ll tag a couple of members who I know use insulin as T1 and see if they have any advice for you - can you help @Antje77 @EllieM

I'm completely useless when it comes to apps for carb counting. I rely on the information on packages and sometimes Google, and I'm a very sloppy carb counter anyway, sorry!

I use the CalorieKing and Easy Diet Diary to look for and log meals and carb count. I find neither are perfect but they are good enough for me. Most apps are peer driven so mistakes do occur. If you do decide to use Easy Diet Diary when it asks for photos please try to so they can keep the information as accurate as possible.
 
Thanks for the tag @lovinglife . I don't use an app but the dietician at the hospital sent me a spreadheet with carb values. Maybe you could ask your DN what they recommend @Jaz132 ? I admit to relying on google most of the time. Luckily most prepared supermarket foods have values on the packaging, so you just need to learn the values for raw ingredients....
 
Once you know the carbs per 100gm for a food, having some electronic kitchen scales really helps.
I have 3 or 4 weighing scales for up to 5Kg around the house for various craft activities, so I just started to use them for what they were intended for in the first place, in the kitchen I now do low carb baking having bought a big mixer and make loaves and buns, but when starting out I used to put my plates on the scale, zero it before adding any food with carbs in it and I used an antique slate to record the amount, calculated using a sliderule, and the time so I could check my reaction later on.
I only needed to do low carb, but the principle is the same - and it removes a lot of guesswork to have the amounts and the time written down.
 
I bought the Cals and carbs hard copy about 10 years ago. It was my bible in the beginning, though rarely referred to now as I now just know the values of what I eat. I then set about working out all the recipes I do as I came to cook them and recording them. If what I need is not in the book I Google or these days ask Alexa. I also weigh religiously on electronic scales as I found my type 1 management required me to be exact.
It seems old fashioned now but I made a big chart of all food consumed and their values per weight or size and stuck it on the back of the cupboard door. Easier to refer to than a book or an app. I still have the chart up.
 
Thank you everyone for your replies. I have been using the my fitness pal app but also been checking with the packaging before committing to the amount of carbs/insulin.
Still trying to get used to it all. I know I shouldn’t but sometimes I guess the amount of insulin I need
