NovoRapid echo pen

Best pen ever IMHO, your hospital clinic will able to give you the pen or you can get it on prescription from your gp.

I asked my GP for a script (on my repeat prescription - just wrote them a note that I'd got given one from the hospital) and no problem.

I have the Echo, on prescription. I love it as it does half units, I'm not sure if the pre-filled do?

How can I get one of these? I just tried calling my dsn to ask for one and there is a new voicemail saying she's unavailable and you can no longer leave a message on her phone. It did give me an alternative number in case of emergencies but this clearly isn't an emergency

I just got one from my DSN but as you say not an emergency.
Surely they must have a new number for general queries etc? Do you have an email address for them.

No email address or no general phone number. I think the alternative numbers are for the other nurses so I may just try calling them

I tries calling them both a few times and they are going to answer phone too. One is the clinical nurse and the other is another dsn. How strange, it's like the clinic has shut...

You can only apologise if it's not the right place.
I just have a general number for the clinic as opposed to an individual nurse. I just leave a message and whoever is free gets in touch.

Love the Echo for its half units AND for the way you can check whether or not you've injected and, if so, how long ago that was. So wish there was a pen with a memory for Lantus/Glargine.... Dreading the future when the memory begins to fail.... (More about that anon.)

O honestly think the Novo Echo has set an example that other pen manuafacturers should follow.

Just request a new Echo pen from your gp once the battery fades., better still keep one in reserve!!!!

Well I called everybody at the diabetic clinic and nobody appears to be there today so I phoned my gp. They said I have to actually see the doctor to get it so have to call back at 8am tomorrow to make an appointment with a diabetic doctor (didn't even know we had diabetic doctors at my surgery...). They best give me one after all this, I'm excited lol (oh the little things).

Hi. I was offered either a disposable or Novopen cartridge pen by my DN. I chose the latter basically to reduce waste, but from a recent post on the forum it seems that the disposable pens may not be very robust. The Echo is very well made and designed to last

I hope they do RosieDred….my experience is that the nurses are more likely to have them on hand, GPs will need to write you a prescription….but you still get one :) - my DSN posted me one when I asked about the half unit thing. I take it you are on the novonordisk insulins so things like novorapid and levemir as the novopen echo is designed for that type of pen fill cartridge - if you are on stuff like lantus and humalog then there are other pens, though I don't think ones with the digi display like the echo but again the nurse or Dr will be able to look it all up.
