Yep have used the tin foil in my old Minis beforeI have seen some of these items used as fuses in my travels.

Yup! 6 inch nails in the main fusebox in an old hangar in deepest darkest Hampshire way back in the late 70s .Yep have used the tin foil in my old Minis before
