Thanks everyone. Yes, I am rather pleased. My diet is basic common sense low carb. It is following the Wheat Belly idea. I read his book and was transformed as I knew this was me... and it all happened from there. So this is a diet plan of no wheat and no grains ( no whole grains or rice etc ), , no fruit except berries and more fat and protein ,and about 15g carbs per meal or snack. After a while there is no hunger so snacks become less and less as you no longer crave food. Its a bit like Paleo or Primal but there is more emphasis on the carb content... Its very good for Diabetes.

Breakfast would be buckwheat waffles that I make or eggs or bacon and eggs. Mid morning snack would be handful of raw nuts or home made almond flour choc chip cookies or a coconut flour cupcake or a boiled egg ( my fave at the moment ). Lunch would be something like an open sandwich - say ham and cheese ... or a smoothie with yoghurt, almond milk and berry fruit,. Dinner would be meat and loads of veges... ( no carrot or potato) so we do a lot of stir fries or curries ( without rice ) . Konjac noodles are good or extra veges like eggplant in the curry.. We do a lot of ratitouille with huge steaks or chops or sometimes the chicken is put into the rat...... I often stir coconut oil into a coffee for the fat... Dark chocolate every day... just a square or two. We have to have more fat than we are used to...Maybe a glass of wine.

Hubbie lost 30kg on this Wheat Belly plan and is no longer diabetic as well.. ( if he eats well). I have lost 17kg so far and a recent Body Composition Scan showed it is all fat loss too - virtually no lean muscle mass has been lost... Tech was astounded. No exercise plan. I have a torn meniscus and can only manage light walking around the house.

HbA1c was 5.5% or 37. Dr was happy... I have a B12 deficiency anyway so Met was affecting that so she decided to try me off Met... so far so good! :D

Hi. Well done and your diet is essentially the low-carb diet many of us follow in varying degrees. It's the same diet my non-diabetic wife has been following and she has lost weight and is as healthy as she has ever been. Hopefully you can stay off meds for many years.
