Nurse appointment tomorrow!

glad the nurse has decided to put you on insulin, it does seem like the best option for you to get control. like the others I was thinking you might not be type 2. I half expect when you mention LADA / Type 1.5 to the nurse you might get a bit of a blank look, if you do see your doctor, they seem more clued up at least.
 
Many GPs don't understand LADA and just label the underweight types who need to move on to insulin (like myself) as definitely T2 when there isn't a test that confirms T2. They just guess thru ignorance or laziness. Do ask for the tests but many GPs aren't aware of them. Note that the latest NICE Diabetes Draft DEC 2014 guidelines update now say that anyone presenting with low weight should be assumed to be T1 not T2 and not to bother with the two tests. The only real treatment difference is to have Gliclazide rather than Metformin and move to insulin when needed. I would go for both insulins i.e. Basal/Bolus if you can as it gives excellent control. Basal only may be OK for a while but having the Bolus as well means you can control that big meal when needed
 
That's what I have requested...hopefully the doctor will sign that off. She mentioned mixed but in said no way. I had that when pregnant for my GD and was so restricted and had a load of hypos :( fingers crossed I get.the basal/bolus. I will let you know :)
