Nutritional Typing

http://products.mercola.com/nutritional-typing/ - There is a free test to take and lots of info.

Has anybody looked into this before? I'm a protein type and luckily don't crave carbs like some. I've only suspected for 3 days that I might be type 2 (doc appointment pending) but my levels have stabilised pretty quickly pretty much living an Atkins way of life but having a slice of toast a day with my eggs and sometimes bacon.

I wonder if those that are finding it more difficult to give up carbs are a carb type or even a mixed type and have no option but to rely on insulin or other medication to support their lifestyle.

Just a thought

Hi Morganden, this guys theories are well known and may or may not ring true with everyone, I actually suspect he is just selling diet books but who knows.

What I do know is that you have to give him your email addy to take his test to find out what you are and TBH I get way to much SPAM as it is without giving this guy any personal information

He may have the answer but then again so might Taubs, Groves and any number of others who have theories as to why we are this that or the other, I think I'll stick to what I know works for me thanks :D

I took a paid for test the other week just to double check my reading, which cost $38. It was more comprehensive. Mercola is an MD and I subscribe to his site and get about 3 emails a week with very useful articles. Ive learnt a lot and agree with most of his findings. He does a lot of interviews with enlightened doctors and practitioners.

Not had any spam via his site and he is very well respected in the holistic world. He does sell some vitamins but they have been sourced really well and can be trusted unlike some of the products you can buy on supermarket shelves. His business is in Canada mostly but he openly admits to being an activist but isn't every body who opposes conventional medicine :?

Nobody, not even GP's can agree with each other. You only have to look up the Cholesterol Myth to get even more confused.

Just had a quick look into Dr. Steven Acocella and found the above.

Isn't it possible that his parents were in fact carb types and that following a protein type diet was not working for them :?: Also, how long does it take to sink in that something is not working for you? Doesn't the nutritional typing only confirm there is some foundation in the Eat Right Diet (hate that word diet) which is eating for blood type? The above link is just ONE example of BAD management and who's to blame might never come to light.

I suppose you have to suck it and see for yourself before passing judgement. I don't think I will be obese and wheelchair bound before realising something is not quite right :? Me finks he has an axe to grind with Dr Atkins.

What makes you think that totally untested vitamin pills sold by someone in Canada can be considered safer than foods sold in UK supermarkets? And who told you they are all sourced really well? Let me guess

You might care to read this page before you part with any more of your hard earned Morganden

Yes, the thing to conclude from this test is that some of us won't have the willpower to eat the universally ideal low-carb diet, and not that the low-carb diet might not be ideal for all of us.
[I can eat 60g of starchy carbs per meal without BG going over 6.5 mmol/l, hate fatty foods and most meat, and I am not gaining weight so why change?]

Having said that, I am not disinclined to believe that there is no one diet recommendation suitable for everyone, and I kinda believe in the above mentioned types (mainly because that's what EULE is saying).

Edit: Also, SharkLasers are occasionally useful.
