Based on the carb content in oats, probably not but you could give it a go.
Test your BG, eat it, test your BG two hours later.
Everyone's BG reacts differently to different food so you may find the carbs in oats area a slow burner for you which your body can control without a spike.

I wouldn't eat more than 30 grams of water cooked oats, if I had to.

You need to test and see. I know I can't eat oats of any variety.

Here's data from the Diogenes project regarding the cholesterol, glycaemic indices and glycaemic loads of various oat products. I found it interesting that the one containing fruit was lower in carbs - presumably due to less oats.

I have oats and fruit every morning. 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup skimmed milk, 1/3 cup 0% greek yoghurt. Left in the fridge to soak overnight and topped with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.

Doesn't make me spike horribly - I'm back in the 5's within 2 hours and always back to 4's by lunchtime.

You might be ok, test before you eat and 2 hours afterwards, and make an informed decision based on that.

Have you tried this with cooked oats? I know that cooking food sometimes alters the bgl response for some people. Curious to know if it makes a difference for you.

can you eat yoghurt and oats being a type 2 diabetic the Scottish oats

It depends on our personal reaction, and the portion size can make a HUGE difference.

The best thing to do is to use a meter and test your blood glucose before, and two hours after eating your usual sized portion.
If your blood glucose has risen by less than 2mmol/l at two hours, then that size portion is an OK choice. If it rises by more, then try a smaller portion or choose a different breakfast.

Personally, I seem to get high blood glucose readings after porridge, so oats are off my menu.

I have oats now the weather has changed, 25g mad with water, cooled down with coconut water then topped with blueberries, doesn't spike me and keeps me full until lunchtime so no snacking either! But you have to test and see if it works for you, good luck xx

I was having "oat so simple" plain oats every day before I discovered the heaven that is cold soaked oats - and that was fine too.

Mornings are a good time to eat carbs for me - I have a very low fasting BG which helps.

.

I agree that portion size is very, very important. In my post above I put the quantities - I eat 1/3 cup daily. I think eating more than that would be a big mistake.

I too find I can tolerate more carbs in the morning and curently eat porridge then. You are the first person I have met who isn't more able to eat carbs in the evening.
