I’ve seen diabetes videos mostly from USA saying do not eat oatmeal or porridge as we know it as one of the No-Nos. I had a small amount of porridge for breakfast with a small amount of blueberries, 2 black berries and 3 prunes. Tested after 2 hours and it was 8.4. Before taking Metformin. Same amount next day, with Metformin after and it was 4.7 Didn’t expect it to be so low.

Metformin does not work like that, that difference in readings must be because contrary to what you think the meals were not the same. Or more likely your levels were different before the meal, you need to test before eating and after, to get a proper reading of the meals affect.

It isn't the metformin, it doesn't work like that.
I suggest a longer period of testing, perhaps with other breakfasts in between eating oats. It is, after all, your long term levels you want to reduce.

Yes reducing levels in the long term is important, but so is avoiding large spikes as these can lead to diabetic complications even when the 3 month average (HbA1c) looks OK.

I chose not to eat any sort of breakfast cereals, but if you'd prefer to continue doing so, it essentially depends on whether you find your post meal results are acceptable or not.

Are you also checking pre meal so you see what the actual rise in your glucose level is? As @TriciaAWs said you should also be trying to avoid spikes, so as prunes tend to be high in carbs, perhaps also do some tests without including them with your oats.
