Off meds but BG is rising should I worry?

@LittleGreyCat , a quick Google led me to the Medichecks, which in turn led me back to ... you and @ringi 's useful discussion here:

Quite interesting information.
I'll tag @bulkbiker to see how he got his blood sample. I don't know if my surgery would welcome my using the nurse's time.
I was having an HbA1c so timed the medichecks test so I could get the phlebotomist at the surgery to fill their vial at the same time. She was fine with it.. once she got my blood flowing.. no easy task..

The diff is they measure your blood glucose at the same time and use that fancy equation to work out your IR.
Although it came up with a different answer when @LittleGreyCat (I think) had theirs done.

I am having a very bad evening methinks. I need to go for a lie down in a dark place. :arghh: Of course .... it is the insulin resistance test that I ordered (and am still waiting to do). Just ignore me all of you. It is still fasting though.

Medicheck says:
"
We use the calculation which is supplied by the lab, it returns slightly different results to the HOMA one. The calculation they use is:

Insulin(mIU/L)*Glucose(mmol/L)/25 and has a range of <1.0.

They are both clinically valid ways to assess insulin resistance, if they would rather use the HOMA algorithm it is:
Glucose(mmol/L)*Insulin(pmol/L)/160.5 which has a range of <2.0.

However they would need to convert the units before doing this.

"

So very similar to HOMA but dividing by 25 instead of 22.5.
This does make me wonder why the limit for their test is 1 and for HOMA it is 2. Either way, both calculations for me come in at above 2.
Strange units for HOMA as well, pmol/L.

The references I read say:
"HOMA-IR was calculated according to the formula: fasting insulin (microU/L) x fasting glucose (nmol/L)/22.5."

Whatever, this has reminded me to prod them about an estimate of ß cell functionality.
