Off the cuff Fat Fast

Ok did have food for supper in the end. Happy monsieur salad to celebrate the racketball win as opposed to the usual visit to the bar - terribly social game. Through to the finals on Saturday night. Downside of which means no escape from bar. Dilemma.

Didn't have a bpc at 6. Had a higher 5 zero electrolyte 25g cream cheese and 2 teaspoons sunpat no added sugar peanut butter instead as had to rush out door to walk the dog. Will mfp the macros later but hoping to get to bed this side of midnight for quite some time.View attachment 13974

Luckily I have a brother living in Australia and he gets them way way cheaper. In fact Au has the best prices for this product in the world. For example here you get 100 strips for $85,

Did you get charged VAT by customs and a hefty admin charge from the Post Office to boot?

Or, do they pay the VAT up front?

In my experience of bringing "stuff" in from overseas, via the postal service; how the item is treated for customs and VAT is governed by how the sender completes the customs declaration at their end. We routinely have spectacles made up and sent to us from a company based in the USA, whose labs/workshops are in China. We have never incurred additional charges. My last pair were $100 for the glasses (frameless titanium frames with ultra-thin photosensitive lenses and the usual hard and anti-reflection coatings), plus $10 for shipping. That's roughly £70 versus almost £400 locally. The manufacturer clearly marks the packages "Prescription Eye Glasses".

I've never tried importing test strips, but always do a quick rule of thumb adding the VAT and £10/15 for any customs charges, and if that still works for me, I take the gamble. I'm sure the HMRC website might also give clarity.

Found a spare meter in my kitbag so fasting bs 5.6 and ketones now a whopping 1.1.

So today is the last day of the ff. @Merrylizard1314 i think you'll agree getting the fat ratio high enough has been the hardest part of this week and I think fat bombs will be the key to a planned ff as opposed to off the cuff ff.

Breakfast. 1 coffee. 1 bps (1 tbls butter and coconut oil 237 cals).

Will weigh my self tomorrow. It is expected that you will put on a healthy % of weight back on. So will weigh again Monday as usual and count the following Monday as the weight loss benefit of the ff just to take a longer term approach.

Extremely happy with movement in ketones and want to take this forward to +1.5 for the remainder of July and whole of August.

Mental health - buzzing.

Today I was nearer the fat target, but I certainly feel as if I ought to have a genuine fast day, as I don't really want to eat anything for a few days.
I've put my meals into MFP.

Carbohydrates 6g. 2%

Fat 108g. 86%

Protein 32g. 11%

Calories were 1,069

What kind of fat bombs would you. Have in mind @Baruney?
I was reading an article, at the library today, which suggested that bulletproof coffee and a. pack of cream cheese would be the easiest way to do a FF. No thinking involved. Compliance 101.

Congratulations on getting nearer your goals. Are you going back onto LCHF straight away?

Also I have bought some MCT oil. How much should I put in my coffee? Currently I use a teaspoonful .
And how many BPC s should I have, or do I just stick to 2 a day?
Next time, I agree we should have a plan. Count me in, but not for several weeks.
Unfortunately I won't be able to weigh myself until the cast comes off which won't be for a few weeks
I do feel as though I have put weight on, but that may be because I feel so full.

I'd like to see other folk having a go, to see whether their results reflect ours.
Have never felt so unhungry in my life! But pretty well chuffed x 3 !!!

My BGL was. 3.5mmol/L.this am. Ketones 2.5
Going to watch some tennis now - Men's Semi-finals what a line up!

On second BPC for lunch. Like you says - no thinking required. I tablespoon of each (b+CO) is 237 cals so for FF perfect. Outside ff I go for 2 tablespoons of each as it has a lighter colour and deeper taste. but that's just me.

I would like to go back to LCHF straight away but am going to be forced to drink at least a glass of red on saturday night. Will monitor that situation closely.

Weigh in tomorrow - only as stage 1 as described. You could weigh yourself tomorrow and put it in your back pocket. Then weigh yourself just before and after you get the cast off. That weight of the cast minused from tomorrow's weight will equal true weight.

FAT FAST - the final supper. Absolute ly massive ff supper. This one I am calling1436551729415.jpg an ode to Europe. In the blue corner sauerkraut and bratwurst. In the red corner feta halloumi olives and peppers. Small bridges of sour cream/dill and olive oil try desperately to combine the dish. But wait. There is something that unites everything in this dish. Do you know what that is?
 
Ok yesterday s euro fest came in at a whooping 534 calories. Mainly thanks to 237 cals from the wurst. Thankfully mfp exercise input brought me below the 1 cals for the day. Macros looking goog for the day.1436592680440.jpg

Weather looking good down here in saga central. Racketball finals tonight. Just finished fat fast. Rearing to go. Short sentences today. Don't know why?

Quick recap of the FF week. Bloods down 0.8. Blood ketones up 0.9. Weight down 6 pounds. 27.5 miles out of target 35 so far (Sunday cut off). What can I say about that.

Summing up, my week on FF
FBGL down .9 (from 4.4 to 3.5).

Ketones up .8 (from 1.7 to 2.5)

Wt. up .6 ( from 65.2 to 65.8kg) so I think I might have actually lost weight, as this is with the cast.
Otherwise, similar results so far.

@nomistheman, I will heed your advice about going carefully with the MCT oil and avoid the dodgy side effects!

Will weigh again, as you suggest, @ Baruney. On the whole, I think CTSx3.

Good luck with the racketball . I would say, " break a leg " but......

Yes, I did enjoy I the FF, because it showed me how much fat I could tolerate, and how much was too much.

And I have to thank you @Baruney, ' our man in the racketball court' for being such a great food designer, your Aussie plate was a true gem! And also for being so companionable. It makes a difference not to be doing FF in isolation.

Next time,it's the Fat Bomb Wars!,

My guests and family are returning from the mountains tomorrow evening. They are all good trenchermen and will expect a feast, so it's roast lamb, a tray full of roast vegetables , with a Desperate Dan-sized Apple pie for dessert.
