Just a wee reminder if you are planning to buy a brand new car after April 2017....be aware that the govt are trying to claw back money and are introducing new car tax rules for cars that are currently exempt....
Only applies to new cars after Apr 2017 by the looks of it...
Thanks for the reminder 'd-d'; I hadn't picked up on this in the budget, but got an inkling recently when I had an anonymous survey request from the DVLA, which kinda gave the game away. I've been wondering on and off whether it's time to change my car this year, either for a new one or maybe a decent 2nd-hander. Think I'd best lookup what's happening with the new tax before I do anything else.
(Much ) more if the car costs £40k or more - not that it will be a problem for me...
The only cars to be zero rated under the new rules will be cars with no tailpipe emissions - that is, hydrogen and all-electric cars. Hybrids will have to cough up £140 like most other people. Only applies to new cars - old ones will continue to pay at whatever their current rate may be.
