Hi NicolaAnne1994,
The blue circle was introduced as the international symbol for diabetes by the IDF (the international diabetes federation) back in 2006. I think you'll be pretty safe with that remaining true, but most importantly get a tattoo that you really love the look of.

As an alternative, Google Images has a great selection of diabetic tattoos (ranging from a cute diabetic kitty through various medical symbols to a lovely hybrid butterfly) which may be helpful. My favourite however is this evil penguin who gave me a much needed laugh:
