It normally takes less than 10 minutes to drive to church Sunday evening. We have to cross the A4. That's an Olympic route, so they've retimed the traffic lights. We were 15 minutes late.
 
Poor you! I too am cheesed off by the Olympics (a word we're apparently not allowed to use/display). I read the article in Balance about taking food into the arena and this made me cross. Too many silly rules, in my opinion, and too much publicity for what amounts to, well... a load of sport. I'm not at all a sports fan. Don't even get me started on disruptions and cost!!!!! We're avoiding 'The South' for the duration.

On a positive note, I did enjoy being part of the crowd as the torch came through our local town. I enjoyed the commeradery and the pride in being British. THIS, we could do with a lot more of. The jubilee was fab. We visited our local beacon as it was lit at the church. It was lovely mingling with strangers and sharing a life-long memory.

You may think I'm bonkers, but I believe in the power of angelic healing etc. When I'm in a hurry to get to work, I ask the angels to give me clear passage through junctions and traffic lights. It ALWAYS works! I make sure I thank them afterwards. Next time you go to church, try it!

I can't wait for the Olympics to start, I LOVE IT and it only happens every 4 years :wink: and who knows when it will be back in the UK again, probably not in my lifetime A little bit of an inconveinience,( sorry) for an awesome event, YAY RRB
 
I can't stand sport and looking through Radio Times (other TV listing magazines are available!) it's just morning noon and night sport. I wouldn't mind but we've just had weeks of football disrupting the schedules, now this. The whole Olympics farce has just been millions of taxpayers money making others rich, and don't get me started on G4S!!!! Anyway luckily I've got satellite so have lots of channels where I can watch mindless rubbish :lol: And I've stocked up on Wallander (the proper Swedish ones not Sir Ken who was just AWFUL) and Spiral the French detective series. So as they say in Sweden "Skol" and in French Bon Apetite (don't know the french for cheers) :lol:
 
So looking forward to the Olympics, just hope it goes smoothly and everyone arrives back home safe.

Hello Chris

It's so refreshing to find someone who thinks like my husband and I do. Though you did miss out the joys of Wimbledon from you list of 'exciting' sports disrupting the schedules. (I feel a linching coming on).

Thank goodness for satellite TV eh!?

If ever there was two nations that despised each other so much.

Let's hope that none of the North Korean athletes heads end up Kim Jong-un's block when they get back home. :thumbdown:
 
I hope not too! It would be nice if the uniting of the worlds nations for the games could bring an end to all the hatred in the world but I guess it's just wishful thinking,would be nice though if it could happen.

Agreed. Just as long as we win more medals than the French and the Germans.

Oh yes, I forgot the flippin' tennis. :lol: The Olympics don't even start until tomorrow, but already there's football on. Still at least the ladies football team won their match and according to the papers, no swearing, no spitting, no rolling around pretending to be injured, and only two yellow cards. Perhaps the guys need a female coach? :lol: Anyway, I'm off to the pub tonight for a refreshing diet coke and I should be safe from sport there as it's open mic night.
 
WOW what an opening for the uk's 2012 Olympics :clap: :thumbup: SO Britsh. Full of britishness, past and present and utterly enchanting. I'm just watching the worlds athelets parade around the stadium. I can't wait for the games to start. YAY RRB
