My dear Diabetes type collegues,

I am doing OMAD and KETO since this week. (Already ate low carb before)

It is very easy to follow! I just eat one time in the morning everything I need. It is around 1200 kcal and in it is 450 gram vegetables, avocado, eggs, MCT oil, Flaxseed oil and a self made 3 gr carb cacao&seeds bar.

In the first days I felt very good, I could concentrate better and be more productive.

In stead of 20 units of Tresiba, I now use 10 units in the morning. And Around Novrapid 4-5 units.

Now my BIG PROBLEM:

HYPO's! My bloodsugar is getting dangerously LOW at night. I don't inject insuline on the day (Sometimes just one unit because a little raised blood sugar because of the proteins I ate in the morning). I am going to sleep with a good blood sugar and then it plummets to VERY LOW. As you can see in the picture of my GCM, In one of a sudden my blood sugar lowers to unmeasurable...

Does any one have advice?

Kind regards,

It is the 10 units of Tresiba that is doing it. Reduce the dosage until the hypos stop. If blood glucose goes high during the day, you could also try switching to a shorter acting basal like Levemir and injecting it in the morning.

Thank you so much! only think during the day my blood sugar raises a bit because of the proteins and fat, Im afraid that wont be covered by the Tresiba if I will lower it more. What do you think?

Actually try it out and keep a record of your test results. If reducing the Tresiba dosage increases blood glucose during the day, you may be able to close that gap with Actrapid. You could also try switching to Levemir for basal. You will have to discuss it with your doctor. It helps to have done the tests and kept a record of the results.

Basal such as Tresiba should not cover proteins. That is why you take bolus.
I agree to reduce your basal to avoid night time hypos. But you may need to take more bolus during the day.

Hi,

Start with looking at your basal first this may help.. https://www.mysugr.com/en/blog/basal-rate-testing/

With regards to your immeasurable graph? I'd say the gap was due to the Bluetooth signal lost to your reader for anything between 40 minutes to 8.75 hours?? The the data was "back filled" & continued when the sensor reconnected..

Where are my manners. Welcome to the forum.
