This is a Cochrane review of the high quality studies on this topic. It doesn't answer the question of whether eating oily fish, walnuts and flaxseed would be helpful with regards to inflammation but given that supplements vary in quality and may come from fish fed on corn/soy ( although salmon do need to eat other fish), then this is perhaps not surprising.
Also if you are still eating lots of processed food with too much omega 6s but expecting a supplement to fix your dietary imbalances then that's a tall order. Still I don't think Holland and Barrett will be going bust soon!
