One year on - just a quick hello

It is over a year now since I was diagnosed T2 (Oct 2008).

I remember being very scared and unsure about what it meant back then. These forums certainly helped me through those early months.

I now control my diabetes with exercise and diet and I am happy with the results.

Back then I became a little obsessive with regards to testing to the point where I would get crazy if I saw an unexpected result. I am pleased to say that I believe I now have a much better approach to this horrible illness:

- I do not think about it 24/7
- I test once a day on average

Whilst this forum is a great resource and extremely useful for those new to the illness (as I was last year) I do worry that there are some on here who spend too much time focusing on the illness. I sometimes read with growing dispair the bickering and (senseless) arguments about this diet or that diet, this study or that study. Truth is none of us have all the answers - we just have to do what we think is best for ourselves and keep our fingers crossed.

But surely it must be better to spend time enjoying life rather than forever engaging in futile arguments.

So - to take my own advice I am off now to enjoy this bitterly cold day.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all!
