So after yesterday’s nastiness I was worried today.

Ate huge breakfast
Diary sorted with breaks etc
So got to lunch time, had added 15 mins in but for some reason I ran out of time for lunch. Took bite out of chicken, saw time, threw back in cool bag and ate carb killa. Had tested and was 4.7 but knew the carb bar would sort me out and carry me over.

I had gone into tesco to use loo and thought I’ll take some jelly babies in car as emergency.

After 2 hour lesson still wasn’t hungry but was 5.4 (and please before jumping on the it’s not a hypo, I know it isn’t). But I then had another 2 hour lesson that involves me driving on a 70 and I really didn’t want yesterday to happen again.

After lesson when had gone to 5.4 I had intended to have 2 jelly babies to carry me to getting home.

Got a phone call, started driving and before I knew it I started to feel sick. Then realised I had nearly eaten the whole bag.

Now in the defence of the jelly babies I felt amazing. My brain was working my mood was great. I would say I was high as a kite.

No feeling I’ll just felt energised.

Tried to get Pupil to eat leftovers but she only had 2 (how?)

2.5 hours later I tested and I was a 10.2.

So a big big ooops but I got home with no adverse affects.

Why didn’t I eat the chicken? I didn’t think it would work. Yesterday having eaten the chicken things dropped to where I felt lousy.

But a big ooops. But as a positive they are currently sitting on dining table waiting to go in bin. I just don’t want them!

I'm not criticizing but why eat sugary sweets when a banana would have been far better

This sounds utterly ridiculous but I did consider a banana but thought no, because I didn’t want any carbs.

Utterly stupid because sugar carbs same thing but at the time I didn’t see it.

It's hard to have to keep thinking about what is best to eat all the time :)

Hmmm so now my high has gone (still a big high sugars but the glorious feeling has disappeared).

I believe this was my brain playing tricks and I played right into its hands.

Since I had the Diet Coke last weekend I have been feeling very sorry for myself. Angry at diabetes for not even letting me have a Fing Diet Coke blah blah.

So yes I was worried about yesterday but I think deep down I knew if I bought those sweets it would be the whole packet not just 2.

My addiction to sugar won again,

Couldn’t see it earlier. Didn’t even feel I wanted anything sweet. But now. The fact I felt so wonderful. The fact that all my anti diabetes was gone, I felt on top of the world.

My body and brain wanted sugar and I gave it to it.

So, here we go again. Starting again!

Oh and still happy that I threw the remaining offending sweets in the bin!

Onwards and upwards. The positive is you are seeing the self destructiveness in what happened.

I’m confused why you thought you needed the 2 planned jelly babies though. You’d scored a 4.7 (I’d be dancing but hey that’s me) and thus ate a carb killer bar. 2 hrs later you’ve gone up to 5.4 (Still dancing after one of those!) which is the point you planned to eat sugar. Yesterday (I’m thinking this was about the headache yes?) was likely not about blood sugars so how would sugar prevent it reoccurring.

Again my view from what you post is that you are blaming all bad feelings on pretty normal and even good bgl’s with a huge fear of hypo/yearning for reassuring glucose. You’ve managed to improve that situation somewhat over recent weeks by eating fewer carbs I know but obviously you’re still not happy with the numbers you see/how you feel and the relationship between them. In your shoes I’d really be considering asking to come off the forxiga (even as a short 3 month trial without it). Thus pretty much eliminate even the small risk of hypo you have, and also avoid headache inducing dehydration. In a perverse way I think it’s keeping your numbers higher because you keep resorting to carbs in order to prevent potential and feared hypos. And every ill feeling, headache or grumpiness is blamed on feared “low” numbers further justifying eating to raise them. Just my two pennies worth, feel free to ignore it.

My last hba1c was 54 so I still have a way to go before I’m in normal range. It’s taken months to get to 54 from 87. So I’m thinking it’s going to take a while to drop into normal range, it’s not going to drop just like that. Well I don’t think it would.

The dr has already said she won’t consider taking me off till I reach normal numbers.

Hence why I haven’t gone back yet because I can’t see it dropping so quickly yet.

Does your dr know you’re doing low carb? And understand it? Many don’t and many expect very little in the way of improving numbers. She may well never expect you to get normal numbers. She may have no idea of the issues it creates for you. Ultimately it’s your choice not hers. All she does is advise and give her opinion.

She knows I’m fairly low carb and was happy. When I said I’m feeling much better inside she said that should motivate you to keep that way.
But I’m not sure she knows just how low carb I’ve gone.

It is my decision but I don’t see point in coming off them until my sugars are normal. I really don’t want them going up again.

I might be wrong but I believe sugars don’t drop instantly (as in hba1c) so they need tine to go down to normal range.
Plus I only had them done 5-6 weeks ago and not sure hospital will do them again so soon.

No they don’t fall instantly but issue wasn’t what my opinion was based on. A suitable diet has a good chance of continuing the lowering of numbers even without the forxiga particularly if that medication is prompting carb eating reactions but I totally understand you not wanting to see them go back up and being hesitant. We must each decide what path is right for us and I was speculating what I would do in your shoes for consideration and comparison-not trying to tell you what to do.

I just see from you posts, your fear of hypo and being low often results in you eating, quite often carbs, when in fact the numbers are just fine and the cause of ill feeling may be unrelated to bgl but you feel convinced it is and eating is the solution. Also I was a bit concerned that you don’t drink much due to being stuck in the car and forxiga makes you pee more, so the end result might be dehydration and the problems that causes, which might be the cause of some of your feeling off or weak or headachey.

I agree it’s unlikely you’d get another hb1ac again this quickly but I don’t see why you need one yet either.

And of course it’s your choice. Your post just seemed to say it was up to your dr what medication you have, and take til what point in time.
