Any idea how to get an insulin pen out of a sharps bin. Must have put it in there thinking it was a disposable when it wasn’t. I don’t think I am strong enough to get the lid off.

Good morning,

An interesting conundrum.

Can you give a picture of your bin.?
The one I have just takes the needles, not enough depth to drop a pen vertically through the holes in the top?

The items have now come out and been sanitised, was able to have my mum tip the sharps bin and shake it around enough to gain access to both items and fish them. Tbh though I do need it to be this big because rather than prescribing me Tresiba cartridges, they give me disposable tresiba pens. I somehow managed not to throw that away.
Maybe once I throw my needles away I need to put the flap over it before I throw my pen out!

Still though think it’s best to show the lid off so that you know it’s big enough for a pen to slip in

Brilliant,

You sorted it?!
All my pens are reusable. It’s just the sharps that go into mine.
Yours seems the size of an average kitchen unit bin?

I can appreciate how this could be done. :)

Glad you managed to retrieve your pen!

With disposable pens there is no need to throw the whole pen in the sharps bin, it isn't sharp!
