Bit of background on me .... I was rushed to A&E December 2016 after a blood test at my docs showed BG of mid 20's. in hospital for the day on IV drip and insulin drip, keytones present. 35 years old, not overweight but slight beer belly

Was released when BG down to normal levels, sent home with insulin and type1 diagnosis.

Earlier this year had blood tests done as part of start right trials which showed no anti bodies, was told by consultant he still thinks type1 due to how I presented the condition.

On nova rapid for meals 1.5/10g, levamere twice a day 14units each time.

Had a few occasions where I have forgotten my fast acting with meal and when realises tested bloods and they were ok within normal levels so today I did a check

Woke at BG 8 this morning, had levamere 14 units.
Had no breakfast and at 12pm BG was 6.0
At 12.15pm I had a pack of sandwiches which were 62 grams of carbs, I had NO INSULIN
At 13:15pm my BG was 9.5
At 14:15pm my BG was 12.3

I did this test as am still confused about my diagnosis with no antibodies.

You may possibly still be producing a fair amount of your own insulin, it's often referred to as a honeymoon period. This could explain why your BG's are okay sometimes even when you forget your quick acting insulin. There is also the possibility that you are taking too much basal insulin, do you hypo often or at regular times?

Not all T1's produce GAD antibodies. In fact, I think about 25% don't - but they are still T1.

Nice avatar by the way:)

Agree with @GrantGam regarding your honeymoon, it can throw your readings out but you will need to carefully monitor your levels.

Great avatar too ;)

Thanks for the reply, glad you like the Avatar lol

Not had any real hypos, lowest BG has been is 3 during a long walk. Generally it doesn't drop below 5 ish

Just tested bloods again 3 hours after eating and it's down to 10.3 with no novarapid bolus

I wouldn't actively experiment with eating and not taking insulin by the way. Ketones can develop rapidly when there is insufficient insulin on board and I wouldn't rely on a half shot pancreas to manage my levels either!

Were you acidotic in the hospital? You mentioned ketones but not your blood pH.

No totally agree, first time I've done it deliberately just very keen to understand what's going on and getting straightforward answers from doctors or hospital isn't the easiest thing

Welcome to the forum @KEV-81. Even though you don't have the antibodies, DKA is a domain of type 1. Ketones are a serious threat and should not be taken lightly.

So the "A" in DKA is "acidosis", and as recall part of the process of the body's trying to produce energy without the aid of insulin is to produce ketone bodies which somehow results in acidosis, a drop in the pH of your blood which is measured using arterial blood not venous blood (although I don't think the pH's are very different between them). You try to "compensate" for a falling pH by breathing off CO2 and there's a correction factor for that and the CO2 level is also part of an arterial blood gas that gives you the pH.
