I tried the Rapid D on my Animas Vibe. A very nice infusion set and it goes in effortlessly. However... 2 days later I get stabbing pain in the love handle area, the needle feels like it's moving as I walk, I had to walk very gingerly home to change it. Another bleeder.

The Animas version of the Rapid D arrived yesterday. The "contact detach" is similar to the Rapid D except it has an extra sticky pad to attach the connect/disconnect part separately from the sticky pad for the steel needle. So I am trying that now.

Rapid d's are for only 2 days...it really sounds to be honest that it is the areas that you are using rather than the sets.....

I know from rapid d's if they start to hurt it can almost be impossible to move....as it hurts so much.. Mine would be felt almost instantly.....

I have had my hubby running upstairs to get me a new set as I feel its too painful to move..(even forget I could actially take it out!!!)...

I am sure you will find a great area to use sets, and am glad you are up for the perseverance involved.

I tried to get them onto my bum but I have trouble reaching that far back due to frozen shoulder, so the upper hip was as close as I could get. I will keep hunting for a combination of site and set that works reliably for me.

Good for you. You'll find places that work for you.. Rapid d's are so simple compated to the other plastic ones that I can only say feel like they are staple in me!!!

You will fond the righ place for you. I too have had frozen shoulder. Horrible, but got to say the more I used it the better it got. Back to normal now. So bad my customer a surgeon offered to give me steroid injections, but from using it more with the gardening helped it enormously.

I'm going to try another Unomedical "contact detach" set today and make use of the six inches of tubing between the steel needle and the connector (like the Rapid D too I guess) to get the needle onto my bum but still be able to reach around to disconnect the connector on my hips or love handles area.

I definitely agree these 90 degree manually inserted steel needles are a doddle and so much less faff than having to retract a needle after inserting a canula, or those spring loaded inserters like the Inset II. It all seems a bit unnecessary now.

Agreed, those Inset 30s are grim.

I will do some photos when I change the set this evening.

Im vibing in July and have got an insett 30 to have a go with......so far havent undone it yet but will look on utube later...... Deffo with steel needle sets, get some clesr transpore tape to put over the set to stop the adhesive coming loose at the edges and pulling on the needle. Also, a really good spray with liftplus or similar to enzble the set to unglue itself

Glad to hear that worked! What I couldn't get on with was the huge long introducer needle and never quite being able to control what angle it was going in at. I find the Inset IIs much easier, as Eng does. I think they are brilliant bits of kit actually, it's just a shame they don't seem to want to stay stuck into me.

I can't say I found them a diddle found them much more painful and aware of it the whole time! Sticking to inset IIs I'm afraid!
