Overt diabetes

I know it’s confusing .. ok so no longer on insulin (i was on it as gdm, I remember once that i had a hypo when using insulin and I remember how it felt) ... doc is writing to my old specialist that i had when i had gdm because my recent ogtt came back at 16 and the diabetic cut off is 11 . My hbac 1 is at 46 so still in the prediabetic range ( mainly because ive been adjusting my diet to keep the sugars lowish - yes i do have a meter. . My doc will confirm the diagnosis when she hears back from the specialist . For the time being treatment is diet and excersice with the possibility of tablets should it get worse ...

When im out . And ive not eaten for a while it feels like my sugars take a nose dive ( just like when i had the hypo with gdm)

I hope ive explained this better
I am partnof the uk lucy locket im glad someone else unders that sugars can dip like that and its not just me
T2's can hypo, but it doesn't happen often. I know it happens to me when it's an especially hot day. But it's rare. And then there's a thing called reactive hypoglycemia, and there's a thing called false hypo, and if you know exactly what your bloodsugars are doing (so always bring your meter!!!!) you know what's happening, and might figure out why it happened, and what to do about it. That's the thing.... You could be dipping low for a variety of reasons... You could be high a lot, so when you dip into the normal range you get very real hypo symptoms (The false thing is a bit of a misnomer. Far as your body's response is concerned, you're having a hypo, even if the numbers don't agree. It'll freak out.), you could have reactive hypoglycemia, but it doesn't sound like it (that would come a few hours after a carb-heavy meal, and you mentioned fasting bs), and lord knows what else.... That's why it's really worth it to bring your meter and check the moment you feel off, and keep an eye on things as the day wears on and you either add in sugar or don't. Knowledge is power, and doctors love numbers: if you can show them a few, they're more apt to listen and investigate.

I am quite new to all this, but find it all very interesting and informative. I had no idea what symptoms to expect and am never sure if it is diabetes or just feeling unwell. Guess I will get used to it!
