Type 1
Hi, I am type 1 for the last 26 years and use an insulin pump and metformin. My Dr recommended recently that I start Ozempic but I am seriously worried about the side affects of Ozempic after looking at different forums. Has any Type 1 successfully used Ozempic without the horrendous side affects. Thanks in advance.

Why has the Dr suggested Ozempic? This is normally only used to reduce excess weight? If this is the problem are you keeping the carbs down? Some T1/LADAs like me just cannot eat carbs freely as we are led to believe. I can't comment of the side effects of Ozempic but if you do have excess weight do keep the carbs well down if you aren't already doing that and you may be able to avoid the Ozempic.

I use Victoza, which is similar. I had a few mild side effects when I first started but got over it quickly. Really like using it.

Thanks for coming back to me. - I was just interested to know. My HbA1c is really good at the moment. I guess I just need to talk to my team. I was more concerned about the possible side affects rather than my BG as thats good :).

That's great, although it is always possible to make life easier. GLP1s also have some ancillary cardio benefits which may help with long term complications. Same with SGLT2s.
