My pancreas
I’m at my wits end. I’ve been on and off Ozempic for two years I think, could be less. It worked but side effects nearly sent me crazy so I came off, went back on because it’s the only thing that helps my glucose levels… On and off throughout. I’ve had enough now— accident in the supermarket today and I wasn’t even aware. It wasn’t much but I’m mortified.

What is wrong with me?! Nothing brings my levels in order but ozempic but I clearly can’t tolerate it and lead a normal life. This ain’t the first incident either.

I’m on oral meds and insulin. If I do low carb my levels stay high. Even did keto and they stayed high even with insulin.

Does anyone have any ideas because the doctors don’t. They just tell me they feel sorry for me which isn’t entirely helpful.

Thank you

Have you tried using loperimide to help slow down the bowel and maybe help with the poo side effects. I have irritable bowel syndrome and use it for that and to help metformin side effects. Ask your GP would this be suitable and safe for you. Hope you get it sorted bowels are a nightmare.

I take a medication (not for diabetes) with a potential side effect of "accidents". The advice I recieved when it was prescribed was if I had any toilet issues to take Loperamide. Not to wait and see if it gets better, but straight away.

Thankfully, it isn't something I have had to do,.............................. yet!

I do hope you find a way forward.

Has your diabetes team suggested trying another drug from the group of GLP1 drugs. Ozempic is not the only one available, now there are quite a few different ones. It maybe that a different one may control your blood sugars whilst not upsetting your tummy.

I’ve tried trulicity but that was even worse sadly. Not tried any others though.

Maybe ask your GP if another GLP1 might suit you. I took Victoza (liraglutide) last year and had no side effects. Once that became unavailable I switched to semaglutide tablets, again no side effects. I maybe lucky but I still think it’s worth you asking.
