Hi I'm really feeling low at the moment.I saw a Physiotherapist about my Neuropathy pain but all she was concerned about was my neck pain caused by my Arachnoiditis and wondered if Physio would help!Needlesss to say I didn't take her up on her offer after being constantly told I musn't have Physio especially on my neck or spine  The pain in my feet is now really bad and at night ,even though I sleep with my feet hanging down the side of the bed or over the end,I just find myself waiting till the four hours are up and I can take some more Co Codamol!I take Pregabalin and Cymbalta along with Pindalol,Ramapril, atorvastatin at bedtime. My Doctor just tells me I can try Tramadol again although I had it for 6 years and last year realised it wasn't making any difference.I'm getting awful cramps now too,in my feet, toes, legs back and even my neck and head. The Doc just said "how strange"! even when my feet went into lock!when she looked at them.i haven't seen the Doc since March. This last week poor Richard says he feels awful when he finds me crying in my sleep asking for help :( .What I really want to know is if I can find a pain clinic or even a Neurologist myself to see!or do I have to go through a GP?As I've mentioned previously I'm not under a Diabetic Clinic OR the Neurologist anymore because they both said I should be under the opposite Specialist to the one I was seeing, as they both BLAMED!! the Neuropathy on the opposite problem!!I'm sorry to rant again but I really don't know where to turn and I just want help for this pain.thanks

Hi Virginia
I'm a type 1 diabetic, I have tried Pregabalin and Gabpentin and i am now on Amitrityline. I was given this to also help with my back pain, but then we are all different.
You could try rubbing in a pain relief Gel or if your able to take an Ibrufen, but please check with your doctor first as some tablets may not agree with you.
Try keeping your feet warm, or ask to see a Podiatrist/ Chiropodist.
Good luck
Tracey

I have tried a whole host of painkillers for chronic 'back pain' including those mentioned in the above 2 posts and none have worked for me. I'm beginning to think that I'm immune to everything! I was refered to a pain clinic by my GP, they have yet to find anything that helps!

Thanks for your replies.I was on Amitriptyline 18 years ago and also after I was diagnosed with Arachnoiditis (The Dye in my Spine and Neck thats set !).I was on Ibruprophen and had the Gel at the beginning of my Backpain in86 and took it for 10 years but then gave me reflux so I haven't to touch it now.I 've been seeing the Podiatrist every 6 weeks for 2 years now and even she's asked my Doctor to do something because I can't feel either of my feet or toes now .I've been told I'll probably have to have Morphine ,which I've been having anyway when I've had bad flare ups,I just didn't want to go on it long term yet!!Thanks anyway,I think I'll just have to become an Insomniac.

(((Virginia))) - I know the pain of neuropathy, fibromyaliga & slipped disc, used to cry out in pain, husband took me to hospital during the night to get pain relief, desperate times indeed.

A doctor in Switzerland suggested Alpha Lipoic Acid & Benfotiamin as well as aromatherapy oils. With all this pain, depression that came with it I had lost diabetic control, bg all over the place, developed further complications, felt life wasnt worth living any more.

One final attempt, with medical supervision, started low carb diet, suggested supplements, aromatherapy oils massaged in twice daily.
One thing after another sorted out, today I dont need medication, neuropathy doesnt cause any more problems, although numbness remains in parts. Bg at non-diabetic levels.
Please note I did all this with medical supervision.

I sincerely hope that you too can find something that works for you.

Thank you so much whitbyjet! Although I'm sorry you had to go through all that, but I'm soo relieved to know that other people have been in the place I'm at right now!!Funnily enough I started the Low Carb a few weeks ago and for the first time in years I've started to loose weight and not feel so sick after eating quite a lot of foods,I do love the Aromatherapy Oils and will go into Suppliments with a guy at our Local Health shop,he's really good and goes into my history and what Meds I'm on etc. When we move in the next few months I'm going to make sure I get a GP who is into Complimenry treatment as well as,the Doc I have now doesn't even believe in Vitamins!!
Many thanks again,I just hope I can lift myself from this awful"fog"!!.Take care,Virginia x

I swear by Benfotamaine and have taken it for over a year now, with fantastic results.

For more info either do a search on here using the word "Benfotamaine" where you find loads of previous posts about it, or, pm me and I'll tell you where I get mine from.

When I've tried to add weblinks, etc about it on here previously they have always been removed by the mods.

Hi Virginia,

I too had terrible pain in my feet that kept me up all night and not wanting to put my feet on to the floor even from a sitting position. My doc gave me Amitriptaline first but it did nothing for my pain. Then he gave me, what I call " My wonder drug", Duloxatine. I take one capsule before bed every night and the pain has all but vanished.

Ask your doc about trying you on Duloxatine... :D
