I often read on the forum how T2 diabetes and getting in control of the condition is a marathon not a sprint. It's true and I also believe that it's important to remind yourself how far you have come and feel positive about all improvements along the way.

Hubby was diagnosed T2 4 months ago with an HbA1C of 98 (11.5%) and had FBG of around 17.5 rising to 21 or 22 after eating. Luckily we found this forum quite quickly and he immediately adopted the low-carb mode of eating and in recent weeks has added in intermittent fasting.

This past week has been an extremely stressful one. It began by losing our much loved family cat and Hubby then had to go away for a 3 day work conference. It was a 5.5 hour drive (with multiple motorway closures and diversions so stressful in itself) Staying in a hotel can making sticking to a LCHF mode of eating more challenging.

He was very chuffed on yesterday to find that his post meal readings are now consistently 8.2 (which is 2 points lower than they were 2 weeks ago with FBG coming in around 7.9. Not quite there yet but I think he has done really well in such a short space of time. :)

It will be interesting to see what the next HbA1C comes in at....

So if you are feeling fed up just remind yourself that you can get back in control of this condition and it is worth trying to do so without medication.
 
He is doing brilliantly.
Hotels can be difficult, but hotel breakfasts normally provide lovely bacon and egg dishes, which is a bonus..
I sympathise with his motorway traumas, with expected 3 hour trips turning into unexpected 6 hour trips. Awful.
