Hi there …. I just found this posting which was apprently part of an article. I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if anyone has had any good results from it ….

I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20's and have all the general/ usual side effects so I am always looking for new info on it. I have to admitt that as much as I hate the side effects I have learned to live with it and am no longer at war with it… I have chosen not to go on all the usual meds (the pill) I am currently on 12 days of 10mg of Provera and then an additional 250mg of Metformin. I also am taking a 1/4 cup of Pumpkin seeds that is said it can help prevent testosterone’s conversion to its active counterpart, DHT

Anyway here is the article….

"More Good News about Inositol and Pinitol for PCOS

New research suggests that a common B vitamin
will help to restore a normal cycle, improve odds of
becoming pregnant, and reduce insulin and blood
sugar problems.

Researchers have concluded: "Myo-inositol is a
simple and safe treatment that is capable of
restoring spontaneous ovarian activity and
consequently fertility in most patients with PCOS."

Inositol and its biochemical cousins, d-Pinitol and
D-chiro-inositol, improve the insulin message
system in your body so that insulin can do a more
effective job of controlling your blood sugar.

In other words, inositol can reduce a condition
called "insulin resistance", which is thought to be a
root cause of PCOS.

In this study, 88% of the women restored at least
one spontaneous menstrual cycle during treatment.
72% maintained a normal cycle beyond the end of
the treatment. 40% became pregnant"
Inositol and Pinitol is the fancy names for Vitamin B

I am keen to hear if it is any good ....

Haven't heard of that one, but metformin is often used in PCOS as in Type 2 to reduce insulin resistance, and a common side effect is to deplete B vitamins, principally B6 and B12 AFAICR

Hi have u looked at the PCOS web site - they have a very clued up dietitian working with them and some time next year they are going to publish some results with diet - I think they were using a low gi diet. If you have access to a dietitian she may want to analyse your diet to check the levels of b vits.
