Pedometer Challenge Thread

Have you measured your step? That is the most accurate way of doing it.

Set a distance, 3m or so would do it, then count how many steps you take in that distance. Distance/total steps = average step length. It's probably longer than you think.

I'm 5'3" and female with a stride of about 0.7m!

My grumpy husband thought I could not have been taking as many steps as mine said, especially when I am 'just' at home. So I counted loudly this morning and then showed him. I think mine is under-counting if anything!

It's raining here in South Lincs, not sure what my score will be.

You still counting?

Anyone else want to join us?

Woohoo Andy! Knew you'd cave on this thread at least!

I think mine undercounts occasionally but it's really just an indication of if I've been on my feet or not

1730 and a sunny day so far!

Steps 2434

BG 2.4

Steps usually 1300 around now. I know what I'm blaming!

It was fun even if the steps weren't counted!

woohoo :) 3.6k? wow

1076 so far for me booooooo!
Still took me 26 minutes! Started on run two walk one, ended on run two wLk two lol stitch had my doubled over!

And BG rocketed to 13.4 :( need to work out how to combat that!

Stitch is awful, I've suffered from it a bit, you can try high arm stretching, putting pressure on the area, breathing on the opposite foot (if your doing that foot thing lol) not eating for a couple of hours before the run and making sure your well hydrated, after reading up on it, it seems to be a diaphram issue, these were the tips i read about, the good news is, the more you run the fitting you get the less it should happen, doing some core exercising may help too :)

the bg rise is something i know nothing about because of your type :( sawwy

have you tried using a mantra? it sounds weird and I'm no bhuddist lol but my running club suggested it and its kinda working i think, when i knackered and want to stop, it can be "i can do it" or "hills are friends" lol say it in your head, one word with each step then i have a step break, you can make your own up of course like "andys full of it" :)

i am serious btw I'm trying it, maybe it just takes your mind off the pain i dunno, but it seems to help, also when you can't go no more, count your last 10 steps, i mean just as your ready to stop take 10 more steps and count them, i can remember the taking 10 more then just a couple more, i do believe its the steps you take that you think you can't that do the most good, its like when your doing weights the first 9 pushes are all leading up to the 10th push where the good is done, this is just a theory and i have nothing to back it up :)
