Permanent hair removal products?

Hey all,

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows why permanent hair removal products such as electrolysis machines are not recommended for diabetics?
I wanted to buy one, and asked the seller but she said that I should try something else, because it's not a good idea.

Firstly, does anyone on here use one or another method that works and is okay for diabetics?
Secondly, do you know why diabetics shouldn't use this?

They say that if your diabetic you don't heal as well as a non diabetic person. So that's why some ppl/places are funny about it. But if you have good control over ur diabetes then you won't have any healing problems. I personally wax and that's the best method for me and I've not had any problems.

It's my understanding that all the complications associated with diabetes are only present as a result of uncontrolled blood glucose levels.

Keep close enough to 'normal' BG, and you should be ok.

But then, I am NOT qualified to give medical advice...
 
We are also not allowed saunas, whirlpool baths, steam rooms etc. It's just the nature of business nowadays I think. Over cautious I think but personal choice. As others have mentioned, if you have decent diabetic control, you should be fine.

Yeah, I heard that about saunas, etc.

Yet our local hot tub seller touts them as The Next Best Thing for diabetics.

No idea if that claim is scientifically backed?!?

I can imagine they might actually be good, as they get the circulation going! Not sure though.. I know that I love them :P

Any insulin using diabetic could be at risk of having a
serious hypo issue in a hot sauna .
The heat can really speed up the insulin absorption rate(s)

Pedicures in a beauty treatment are listed as a no-no
for diabetics in some salons .
Due to sensitive feet and poorer circulation issues .
Some diabetics cant feel hot/warm temperatures accurately .
Also sharp objects/tools can cause injury too .
There is the poorer or slower healing of skin issues to consider .
 
I have been 'growing' my wayward chin hairs this past week for an electrolysis treatment, when I woke up this morning I had a sudden panic that I may be refused! Now I am a bit anxious about heading in. Is there any treatment preference for type 2? I also booked hopi candles …. thinking it may be a very cheap trip in after all!
