Pioppi Anyone?

Hello, @Squire Fulwood

Thank you for posting this. I did read about it in the Daily Telegraph and thought at the time that the Pioppi diet seems to be an amalgamation of low carb, and Fung methods.
Then I put it on the to do list, and promptly forgot it.

I note that you have posted in the 'General Chat' area of forum. This is a less visible area, that doesn't appear in 'recent posts'. It could get more response in a different sub forum, such as 'diets'. If you would like it moved, just need to ask. Moderators can do that at your request.

Dr Malhotra wrote an article in a magazine I get each month. I couldn't reproduce the exact article here so I wondered if he had written it elsewhere and .............

I am not pushing the diet just learning more about it.

I like a band wagon especially one that's on message so I've borrowed the book from the library. Its all sensible stuff my only issue was that it's only as sensible as the person reading it I used it as an excuse to eat loads of dark chocolate (not what he says at all!) For someone new to lowering carbs its great and less daunting than Diet Dr.

But beware if you're looking for an excuse to eat shed loads of chocolate

Have not read the book but I like the article. I dont think anyone at my.gp practice reads the telegraph!!
Its the same as the blood sugar diet, only with more calories.

It seems like a really good idea. I like the fact that he does say to limit the amount of pasta. A lot of weight is given to the fact that a Mediterranean diet includes loads of pasta, which, of course, it really doesnt.

Any thing promoting low carb has to be a step in the right direction. Until new evidence points in another direction!!

Thank you for posting this article. When I read such articles about sugar being bad, not fat I usually wonder whether it is not a case of eating either one or the other but rather not too much of either.

It's important to remember, should you be making choices, that sugar contain no nutrients what so ever and has only been a significant part of the human diet for a relatively short time, whereas fats (putting aside the artificially created ones) contain many essential substances, including fat soluble vitamins, and have been part of our diet since we first walked on two legs and maybe before.

I have started reading this book, on the one hand, it contains nothing new, on the other hand, lots of copies have been sold and people who would not otherwise know about "low carb" are reading it.
