pip for t2 diabetes?

hi

is it possible to claim pip for type 2 diabetes? It does affect my living somewhat. Right now I have a cut ob my foot I am treating and may take a while to heal as a result I cannot excercise. Other than that feet do hurt somefimes.

You cannot claim pip just because you have diabetes. Any claim for pip is assessed on your ability/inability to do certain tasks such as moving around, leaving home, preparing food, washing.

really depends on diabetes effects your ability to work. simply having diabetes not automatically qualify you.

the condition must be effecting your ability for 3+ months alongside expected for last 12 months. some of the rules can be found on: https://www.gov.uk/pip/eligibility

I agree with @Pipp, Personal Independence Payment is extremely difficult to get & keep hold of. There’s forms, then evidence from doctors, hospitals etc then a very long face to face interview. It’s extremely stressful to go through
The media have it totally wrong. Many who are in desperate need of it don’t get it or are now losing it.

Short answer is no. It's not the fact of having a condition that qualifies you for PIP - you have to be able to demonstrate what you can and can't do in real life, and provide enough evidence about that.

The standard is high and initial applications are frequently rejected, so the applicant needs to go through an appeal process. We've supported a few people through PIP application, appeal and retention (it's reviewed regularly) and it is a hard grind.
