Hi basically I was taking of.y ESA and put in.to.jsa cos I.failed the medical.I have.neuropathy on.my.legs so I'm in pain .. On Tuesday.night I was let out of hduwith.bad dka and I had to sign on on WednesdayI called the jobcenter and explained.I'm.just out.of hdu and still deal.weak and horrible .. So they told me I will get no money is there anything I.can do.? I ended up in hospital because I.couldn't afford to.live of 81 pounds for.2weeks so never doney insulin in.the first place what am I.supposed to.do.please help.x

I would think the best thing is to appeal, as you were in the High dependency unit ( HDU) ? in hospital and please get in touch with the hospital dept that dealt with you as proof. I have heard this procedure before, everyone gets tarred with the same brush, and gets treated the same.If you are unable to do this try and get some outside help, CAB or your GP.
I hope you start to feel better very soon and make a good recovery.

Best wishes RRB

Have you been sanctioned?

there is a small membership fee but lots of free information if you cannot afford it. I have been a memeber ever for 8 years as I am currently in receipt of ESA-support group pretty much thanks to their expertly researched guides and help from other wonder forum members and moderators with similar medical conditions to me. The current system is designed to be unfair, it keeps sanctioned or 'economically inactive' people off the unemployed stats. If you have been sanctioned unfairly for not signing on then appeal the Sanction. JCP staff have targets to sanction people the sick being easy targets. Try and see an advisor at the Citizens advice bureau as they hopefully will have someone to help you fight the DWP/Job centre. Tell them you need an urgent appointment. Make sure you have copies of your hospital discharge letter, any blood test results etc not always easy to get but worth their weight in gold when you attach to the ESA JC forms and to show to an advisor. It is the system I'm afraid, you have to fight it even though you don't feel like it at the moment. Is there a member of your family who can help you through this? If things are really bad food banks usually have advisors who know their way around the system . Get your GP on side if at all possible. Good luck, I'm sure peeps with similar issues to you will be along with answers, I just wanted you to know you are not the first, won't be the last but there IS HELP OUT THERE. sorry for spelling, in a rush to get out.

i would ask if you,ve been santioned and then see the cab

I might be working off outdated information because it's a few years since I worked at the JobCentre, but I used to handle some aspects of sanctions so this may help!
If you altered the JC before you were due to sign then no sanction will be on your claim BUT they aren't able to release payment until you actually sign and complete a sickness form. You won't lose any benefit but there is a delay in payment.
If you didn't inform the JC before your signing time then you will be treated as a failure to sign and potentially subject to a sanction; however if you explained to the JC that you were in hospital and can show proof of this then the advisor can "treat as straightforward" and then you will be in the same position as if you called before your signing.
You do need to be aware that you can only have two periods of sickness whist claiming JSA.
I'm also curious about you saying you can't live on £81 for two weeks, JSA is paid every two weeks but is usually paid at ) £70 odd per week unless you are claiming income based JSA which can be reduced if you work up to 16 hours or if you have savings of more than £6,000.

Hope you get sorted and if you have any questions I can help with please let me know x

If you have been assessed by ATOS people then they time you from the minute you walk in to the interview room and sign their paperwork. They also time you with any teain tickets, bus tickets or car parking.. When they note the payments made.. They also not all times down.
They know how long it takes a "normal" person to walk from the carpark to their building or from the bus stop etc.....
All interview times at jobcentre can be checked from the time you sign in to the time you sign the form and leave.

Please contact CAB and GP. You need more help n support than you are getting..
