I do a random check using a machine that used for detection type 2. The report says I'm so close to have diabetes type 2. So I went to my doctor and asked him about the report. The doctor says I have no idea about the machine that you used to do the test, and I have to do the diabetes check in an official way. He said just choose any day from the week come to me fasting for 8 hours not more than 12 hours, and I will do the rest. I chosed a day and went to the hospital. They took four samples of blood. as the following Two when I came to the hospital immediately. Then I drank a liquid - it was the sweetest liquid i have tasted - yak. They told me to come after an hour and they take the third sample, then told me to come after an hour and take the fourth sample.

The result was as following:
1- fasting before take the liquid: 5.67
2- after a hour of that liquid 75ml: 6.8
3- after two hours of that liquid 75ml: 5.5
4- insulin fasting: 8

what does that mean ! the doctor said you are fine but you have to reduce your weight and food. Well should i worried ? thanks for answering I hope i don't write too much

You have normal fasting BG, and normal postprandial BG levels.

That might have been an HbA1c test which is good for detecting diabetes but not good for excluding it (that is to say, reading >6.5% indicates diabetes but <6.5% does not necessarily mean you are healthy). Plus, if it is something you did at home then there is a good chance that you made a mistake so I'd go with the hospital test.

I don't know - it's possible that you are overweight and not diabetic, or maybe he just told you that to give you something to do.

A fasting reading of 5.67 would have just been in the pre diabetic range if it happened twice and if the WHO had not just raised the lower limit to 6. So your fasting reading is fine.

The one hour and two hour readings are both less than 7.8 and so are considered normal so all indications are that you are not diabetic and if you take the WHO limits you are not pre-diabetic.

I have no information about insulin fasting.

EDIT: I looked up insulin fasting and it seems although some confusion reigns it is thought to be ok if less than 8.4.

If your doctor thinks you are overweight and has advised you to eat less and lose weight then it is up to you whether you take notice of him or not.

I agree that all those figures imply you are OK and not diabetic. If you are overweight then reducing it to get your BMI within the normal range makes sense and reduces the possibility of becoming Type 2 in the future. Reducing carbs and portion sizes will help to get your weight down
