Dictators who positively go out of their way to force misery, tears and fears, upon their countryman's lives.
Politicians who, in dealing with dictators, have a wishbone where a backbone should be.
An Aussie Poem

The sun was hot already, it was only 8 o’clock,
the “cocky” took off in his ‘ute to go and check his stock.

He drove around the paddocks checking wethers, ewes and lambs,
the float valves in the water troughs, the windmills on the dams.

He stopped and turned a windmill on to fill a water tank
and saw a ewe down in the dam, a few yards from the bank.

“Typical bloody sheep, he thought, they’ve got no bloody sense,
they won’t go through a gateway but they’ll jump a bloody fence.”

The ewe was stuck down in the mud, he knew without a doubt
she’d stay there ‘till she carked it if he didn’t get her out.

But when he reached the water’s edge, the startled ewe broke free
and in her haste to get away, began a swimming spree.

He reckoned once her fleece was wet, the weight would drag her down
and if he didn’t rescue her, the stupid sod would drown.

Her style was unimpressive, her survival chances slim,
he saw no other option, he would have to take a swim.

He peeled his singlet and shirt off, his trousers, boots and socks
and as he couldn’t stand wet clothes, he also shed his jocks.

He jumped into the water and away that cocky swam,
he caught up with her, somewhere near the middle of the dam.

The ewe was quite evasive, she kept giving him the slip,
he tried to grab her sodden fleece but couldn’t get a grip.

At last he got her to the bank and stopped to catch his breath,
she showed him little gratitude for saving her from death.

She took off like a Bondi tram around the other side,
he swore next time he caught that ewe he’d hang her bloody hide.

‘Round and ‘round the dam they ran, although he felt quite puffed,
he still thought he could run her down, she must be nearly stuffed.

The local stock rep came along, to pay a call that day.
He knew this bloke was on his own, his wife had gone away.

He didn’t really think he’d get fresh scones for morning tea,
but nor was he prepared for what he was about to see.

He rubbed his eyes in disbelief at what came into view,
for running down the catchment came this frantic looking ewe,

And on her heels in hot pursuit and wearing not a stitch,
the farmer yelling wildly..”Come back here, you lousy *****!”

The stock rep didn’t hang around, he took off in his car.
Now the cocky’s reputation has been damaged near and far,

So bear in mind the Work Safe rule when next you check your flocks
Spot the hazard, assess the risk, AND always wear your jocks!

CARRION THOUGHT

My thinking manifests,

In to something horrifying and abhorrent.

It spirals and descends into torturous chasms,

Void of life, void of light.

Negativity oppresses my conscience,

It tears and rips away the flesh of natural thought.

The venomous toxin which is my thinking,

Begins to decompose from within.

Imagination becomes rancid.

I have a savage imagery of my own cries,

My own brutal demise as the limbs of my sanity,

Are ripped from fragile hinges.

Crimson tides cascade from savage wounds left,

And a sick adrenalin,

Almost celestial stampedes through me.

I have been taken,

This wondrous oblivion of carrion thought.

The Rainy Day - Poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Play Poem Video
Written at the old home in Portland

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains,and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains,and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

In The Dark Pine-Wood - Poem by James Joyce

Play Poem Video
In the dark pine-wood
I would we lay,
In deep cool shadow
At noon of day.

How sweet to lie there,
Sweet to kiss,
Where the great pine-forest
Enaisled is!

Thy kiss descending
Sweeter were
With a soft tumult
Of thy hair.

O unto the pine-wood
At noon of day
Come with me now,
Sweet love, away.

I do my thing and you do your thing
I am not in this world to
live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to
live up to mine.
You are you and I am I
and if by chance we find each other,
it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped.

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
is snowing pink from every bow
....
so round the avenues I go
& slip on pavings strewn with petals.

Apologies to A. E. Housman

Our pink cherries are really lovely for a week or so
but all too soon the wind will blow.

Beautiful words x

FEEL ME

When apprehension and worry fill your moment,

Feel me, I will sooth you.

And when the brightest lights you see shine dark,

Feel me, I will guide you.

When you heart mourns for joys forgotten,

Feel me, I will lighten you.

And when every step you take seems pointless,

Feel me, I will push you.

When the thought of one more day alone scares you,

Feel me, I will touch you.

And when you can take no more and cry my name,

Feel me, I’ll be with you.

I like my stuff a bit "edgy".. :D (Don't worry. there is no profanity in my post content.)

Inspired as a kid by the likes of Barrie Keeffe's Gotcha. Which struck a chord with me at the time..
i realise now we all have our own struggle against an archaic institutionalised system, chipping away at who we are, then throwing us out the school gates into a world that changed into something we weren't prepared for...

I love this though..

Almost forgot this one.!. "Rise of the idiots."

From the TV show "Nathan Barley". A disillusioned trendy magazine columnist writes a piece which sets abut to insult/disenfranchise his core readership. Which backfires raising him to cult status..
