Does any of you have this condition as well as, I have been diagnosed with it and put on steroids which i might add have sent my levels haywire but once on them have to be weened off them slowly it seems. I have had to adjust my insulin dosage and have put weight on which I might add I am not happy about!! Wondered if anyone else had this condition seems I collect them as I grow older sighs

Hi Patsy, my mum had this condition for many years. She too was put on high levels of steroids. These helped her mobility & pain immensely, but she did go on to develop diabetes in later life. I'm not sure what the protocol is for if you are a diabetic prior to steroids. I do know that you do have to be weaned off them slowly. Hopefully your Rhumatologist can find you something different. Good luck

Steroids often do raise Blood Glucose, but if you need them then your diabetes should take 2nd priority until you can wean yourself off them.
You certainly aren't alone in having diabetes and needing steroids, many forum members have been in that situation.
