Does any of you have this condition as well as, I have been diagnosed with it and put on steroids which i might add have sent my levels haywire but once on them have to be weened off them slowly it seems. I have had to adjust my insulin dosage and have put weight on which I might add I am not happy about!! Wondered if anyone else had this condition seems I collect them as I grow older sighs

Hi Patsy, my mum had this condition for many years. She too was put on high levels of steroids. These helped her mobility & pain immensely, but she did go on to develop diabetes in later life. I'm not sure what the protocol is for if you are a diabetic prior to steroids. I do know that you do have to be weaned off them slowly. Hopefully your Rhumatologist can find you something different. Good luck

Steroids often do raise Blood Glucose, but if you need them then your diabetes should take 2nd priority until you can wean yourself off them.
You certainly aren't alone in having diabetes and needing steroids, many forum members have been in that situation.

Hey how long did your mum have it for just curious as my auntys had the same for round 16 years ish maybe longer & cant get off the steroids & has to take higher doses in the cold & like for me having fibromyalgia & everything else i honestly think she has fibromyalgia as like she knows people who have had this but they go into remission or can just be on a low dose & it not last for longer then a few years

Hey how long as your mum had it for ? As I honestly struggle to see how my aunty has had it for 14-16 years now & is on steroids eg prednisone & she can’t come off them or lower the dose as in winter she gets worse & had to up it but I honestly think it’s fibromyalgia as like her friends had this & she only had it for a few years & is fine now & so many others like her also but my aunty is not getting better & I have endometriosis POTS mass cell activation syndrome & ehlers danlos syndrome & fibromyalgia oh & pcos I definitely got it all lol but all are kinda connected have had fibromyalgia since since 22ish now 30 pots age whenever Covid happened as I got it from the vaccine wish I’d never have taken it tbh & have had hyper ehler danlos since a teen I think & now mass cell activation for past year & a bit if not longer so I know enough to think my aunty might not have that & actually be like me & have fibromyalgia as she has endometriosis & looks like ehlers danlos & mast cell tbh
