Post drinking blood sugars disrupted for several days?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else experienced similar post drinking alcohol challenges to me? I tend to have low blood sugars for 2 days after I've been drinking (which from reading seems quite normal) and then on day 3 my blood sugars are incredibly high and I can barely eat anything resembling carbohydrate (this doesn't seem to be a factor for many)

Does anyone else find alcohol has this affect on them?

Thank you
Claire

Not to that degree Claire, when I was a beer drinker I would go low the following morning and had to take pre-emptive measures to avoid it but never beyond that time, I mainly drink red wine now and it has negligible effect on my bg levels.

I have a stiff whiskey which doesn't seem too bad and also red wine. But in the pub stick to soda water with a splash of lime

Hi Claire, out of interest what's your tipple and how much are you having ? I drink red wine or gin and diet tonic now but always with food, anything else sends me high and I tend to only have to watch my levels the next morning, but no longer than that.

Either red wine or gin and slimline tonic mostly. I don't drink regularly (as in every day or anything) and it's mostly after I've had a bigger night, say if I've had 4-6gins or glasses of wine (hence why I don't do it too often!) but it is more noticeable the bigger the night. I definitely didn't have these effects a few years ago and I was just wondering if it was almost like my body is reacting to the alcohol?

Strange why alcohol never had this effect on you years ago but does now, but our bodies do change over time that's for sure.
