Hi, I am having a really struggle with the Doc's as they will not properly diagnose me as diabetic.

Most days I slump either on the bed or on the sofa with lack of energy, tiredness and pass out ? I had one this morning and for me to come round I have to eat a load of sweets and half a bottle of coke. I have had when I was expecting my first child and now there is not a day passes by that I feel weak that I crash into a zombie state. My husband sometimes not able to get sweets quick enough to make me feel better? So am I diabetic or not?


Is there anyone else having the same problem with the doc's? Please help?:(
 
Welcome to the forum :)

Has your GP checked your blood glucose readings? If so do you know what they were? Your symptoms could be due a lot of things. Can you tell us any more details?

What reasons have the docs given for not running the proper tests?

They only replied, your borderline...see you next year. No in depth consultation?
They are missing the contra indications -

I am over weight, but disabled, so I can not lose weight?
I was diabetic with my first pregnancy
My dad and brother are diabetic
I suffer from drinking excess fluids
getting up at night
Struggling with sleeping - sleep apnea not helping

Eating excess sugars when needed and almost comatosed
eating crackers when sugar is to high shaking like someone with a caffine def

I kept my old kit and I test myself every day and when I am bad my sugar is almost 0 and hour after food it is too high?

Glad you kept your test kit!
Can you get more strips? The become much less accurate when they are past their expiry date.
If not, the SD Codefree meter is the cheapest I have ever seen (Amazon, Ebay, or Home Free), and a lot of us are using it.

I don't think anyone gets in depth consultations for preD. Would be great if we did, but the most I have heard of is a (dreadful high carb) diet sheet and what you got 'see you next year'.

BUT

And this is the GOOD news. You have come here. You do not yet have a diagnosis. And if you read and post on this forum, take on board the diet and lifestyle advice, and the experience of all the diabetics who post here, you may NEVER get a diagnosis. :) Because you may be able to drop your blood glucose lower. some of us have actually managed to get our blood glucose down to 'normal' levels.

It takes some work - lifestyle, diet, etc. but it really pays off. And while there are lots of people who incorporate exercise, it isn't obligatory. Personally, I am convinced that diet is the biggest factor. I low carb, but there are several different eating styles talked about on the forum, so you get to choose the one you think will work best for you.

Please, stick around, and ask any questions you like.

It does not sound like diabetes to me I never heard of anyone's blood going to zero. I take it you are not on diabetic medication?
 
Diabetics have problems with hyperglycemia meaning that they have too much sugar in their blood. Eating sweets and drinking coke would make this worse and not better. OP says that bloods are almost zero before eating which suggests the glucose is being used so my opinion is that it is not diabetes but some other problem that needs explaining to the doctor.

If you diagnose yourself a diabetic and try to press this on the doctor then the diagnosis might go wrong.
 
Why is your thread called postdiabetic. Were you diagnosed as diabetic at some point?
 
Hi and welcome. I think you need to use the meter a lot more for a while to check whether your sugars run high or low. Taking carbs without knowing can be exactly the wrong thing to do so avoid guessing your state. Without insulin or Gliclazide it is unlikely you 'ever' go low so keep the carbs down unless you have meter proof that you are low. I can't believe you had a reading of zero so do re-check? I suspect some of your symptoms are not related to diabetes so do keep in touch with the GP.
